Nokia 6 2018 | A Definite Winner...If Priced Right! | Phones under ₹15,000

Nokia 6 2018 Edition

HMD Global Nokia 6
UPDATE: With the launch price of Rs 16999/-, Nokia has once again shot itself in the foot. With competition breathing down its neck and offering better and more at this price, Its hard to recommend this smartphone. Its expensive by 2000/- Rs.

HMD Global has been trying hard to rebuild the Iconic Nokia brand by making and selling Android Smartphones under this brand name for some time now.

Even though the smartphones they have built have been quite sturdy and with all the essential features, the pricing (IMHO) hasn't allowed them to taste the kind of success they can.

Despite great devices, they haven't been able to match up to their chinese competitors like Xiaomi and Honor (Huawei).

Take the recently launched Nokia 1, for example. It is a solid device but priced wrong. You can read my detailed thoughts here.

With the impending April 4th, 2018 event in India, HMD Global seems to be preparing to launch its latest Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco as well as the New 2018 Nokia 6.

But does it have enough to challenge the champions?

  • Snapdragon 630 is a new and capable chipset.

  • Has all the sensors including a fingerprint scanner.

  • Camera setup looks good too with Carl Zeiss optics

  • 3 GB RAM and 32 base storage are great with support for micro SD card.

  • Metal Unibody design

  • Stock Android Oreo (Android One device) with 2 years of updates confirmed.

What remains to be seen though is the pricing.

Last year, the Nokia 6 was priced around 15000 ₹. That was definitely a high asking price for a device running Snapdragon 430.

Especially when Xiaomi and Honor well selling much more powerful and feature packed devices at the same price or less.

This year though, Nokia 6 has full HD display and a Snapdragon 630 which is new and can compete with the competition.

Though the Redmi 5 Pro has a better and more powerful chipset along with better features, I think with stock Android, Snapdragon 630 and solid build quality, Nokia has a potential winner at their hands, if priced right.
